Manchester’s very own alternative rock band 25th Hour is back with “Inside”. At the forefront of the band, we find Jade on vocals, Shae on lead guitar, Tom holding down the rhythm as a drummer and songwriter, and Joe on guitar also lending his talents as a songwriter. While they are known for their heavy alternative sound with a funky flair, with “Inside” they venture into the world of indie rock.

The track opens with funk-infused lead and driving rhythm guitars, immediately setting an energetic tone. Throughout the song, Shae’s lead guitar work shines while Jade sings about the pursuit of happiness and relief. The incorporation of button-bright synth lines and pop production values is an unexpected and refreshing twist to their usual sound.

Lyrically, the song delves into longing and isolation, tapping into universal themes of loneliness and the search for belonging. Lines like “I have this feeling inside that makes me feel alone, like there’s nowhere to go” and “I tried to stop that feeling” evoke a sense of vulnerability that is relatable. Who can possibly say they never felt that way in their life? Personally, I can’t and I love that 25th Hour made a song about it.

Since the release of their debut single “Falling Out” in 2019, the band has been gaining recognition in Manchester’s music scene and with their new track “Inside”, we can easily understand why. With shows and upcoming releases lined up, 25th Hour is a name we’ll keep hearing about.
