CANDID

CANDID’s new single “The Feeling” is a hymn of desperation with an unescapable frankness that helps the band live up to its name.

The deep and dirty guitar riffs mixed with pedal board magic create a rock-fuelled opening to the song. We are launched into the main chorus instantly, an aggressive manner that continues throughout- I was out of breath from the start!

‘The feeling’ we are instantly introduced to is one of unachievable desire and hyper fixation, hence its impactful early delivery to the listener.

An overall synth sound overtakes all the guitars, some clearness may have been lost, but this is made up for in the sheer strength of the anthemic backing that is relentless from start to finish.

The subject’s addiction to ‘the feeling’ is supported by the quickening pulse that pushes through the song, there’s a clear desperation to reach some sort of resolution.

The lyricism is dystopian and angst-filled, I’m curious to see if the rest of their upcoming EP ‘Clarity’ takes this same tone.

The sheer speed of the switches between intense guitar hooks, softer vocals, and other unexpected fills is not for the faint hearted, this song requires attention to fully appreciate its complexity.

The band have described the song as an ‘unstoppable force of nature’- I’d have to agree. This will be straight on my playlist when it comes out on the 26th of April- followed by the rest of their EP when its released.
