Manchester garage punk pop band ‘The Bliss’ are a band I know very little about. They appear to have been around for just over a year or so but their second single, ’Balloons’, released this week, has got me wanting to know a whole lot more.

‘Balloons’ is a joyful burst of three-minute, ramshackle, only just holding it together, flying by the seat of your pants, heart on your sleeve guitar pop and it’s everything an indie pop single should be.

All too often these days, tracks are overproduced and littered with ‘virtuoso’ perfect performances that detract from the true feeling of the track, but not here, with ‘Balloons’ ‘The Bliss’ have captured that ever so perfect, just out of the garage and straight onto the four-track feel. Think ‘The Libertines’ at their finest or further back Manchester’s legendary ‘The Man From Delmonte’ and you won’t be too far from the mark.

Well done lads……my single of the year so far!
